Original First day covers for sale within the UK. First day covers were originally examples of new stamps that had been posted on an evelope on their first day of issue. Later, the Royal Mint began to produce 'collectors item' first day covers which had special envelopes and inserts to mark the first day of a stamp (usually a commemorative edition). They remain a fun and often inexpensive stamp collecting niche and because many first day covers are related to commemorative editions as said, they also contain interesting historical reference points.
